“Care is the foundation of collaboration. Without it, true teamwork is impossible.”
— Baozhen M. Luo-Hermanson, Ph.D.
The name Dao Yin (道引) reflects the principles that guide our work. Derived from the Dao De Jing (or Tao Te Ching), the Classic of the Way and Virtue, Dao (道) represents the Way or Process, while Yin (引) means to guide. Together, Dao Yin signifies two complementary meanings:
Following Your Way: We honor your unique process and journey, guiding you to discover the path to a culture of care that aligns with your goals.
Embodying the Way of Care: We are committed to embodying the Way and Virtue of care, as we believe care is the ultimate Dao of human existence and collaboration, the foundation of our shared humanity and collective flourishing.
The Dao-Yin Framework™ integrates the inherent tension between Power Ranks and Shared Unity. This balance is illustrated through the Yin-Yang symbol, where:
Power Ranks (Yang) represent the necessary hierarchies that enable decision-making, direction, and impact.
Shared Unity (Yin) reflects the universality of human interconnectedness, belonging, and collaboration.
The fluid, waving line between them signifies Caring Eldership—the wisdom to navigate both perspectives, leading without oppression and fostering unity without losing direction.
Encircling it all is Care, a species activity encompassing everything we do to maintain, nurture, and repair our world. This world includes our bodies, selves, relationships, and environment.
The Dao-Yin Framework™

“The highest virtue is like water. Since water nurtures the myriad creatures, and settles, without contention, where no one wishes to live, it is near to the Way.”
―Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching: the Classic of the Way and Virtue, Chapter 8
